As effective as ABA therapy is at treating autism, it’s not a one-size-fits-all form of therapy. In order to ensure that you and your child receive the most benefit from autism treatment, A Happy Family Behavioral Services offers behavioral consulting for autism. This consultation occurs in three important stages: a phone consultation, in-home assessment, and generation of a detailed report that we review with you.

Stage 1 – Phone Consultation

The phone consultation is an initial and very important step that can help you decide whether or not ABA therapy will be right for your child. During a conversation with one of our skilled autism experts, you can communicate the most pertinent concerns that brought you to us. A board-certified behavioral analyst (BCBA) will provide you with some of the ways in which A Happy Family will work to meet your needs.

Stage 2 – In-Home Assessment

Once the phone call has identified that ABA therapy will benefit your child, we will schedule an in-home assessment. A BCBA from our team arrives at your home to observe and assess your child in the environment that feels most comfortable for them. Conducting this assessment allows us to collect the data needed to obtain a detailed picture of where your child currently is in terms of their speech, motor skills and other important areas of development.

Stage 3 – Detailed Report

The BCBA uses the data they collected from your child’s in-home assessment, as well as their extensive skills and experience to create a detailed report for your review. The report will include the assessments administered and their results, as well as a proposed treatment plan that will offer your child the most impactful results.

We take the time to review each aspect of our report, ensuring your full understanding of how and why a particular assessment was conducted, and how our proposed treatment plan will address each assessment result. The detailed report will include desired treatment outcomes, and be used as a guide by your BCBA throughout the treatment process. We also write an “FBA” or Functional Behavior Assessment for insurance companies on your behalf.
